Biographical Background & Contacts
Micah Moore ? Creative Director, Writer, Shooter, Editor, Producer
Telephone:????? (919) 280-7029
Email:? ????????????beatdownboogie@gmail.com
Micah Moore started working on independent films with Blake Faucette in Greensboro, NC. Micah worked at College Hill Video, a store owned by Blake. They spent the days watching stylish foreign action films and brainstorming their own movie ideas. After working on a couple feature films, Micah was distressed by the interference of middlemen in the film industry, which led to shelving his own feature script called ?Beat Down Boogie.? After a year long break from film work and a move to Raleigh, Micah and [rick's day job title?] Rick Burnett began playing with new inexpensive video SLR cameras. One of their early experiments turned into a web series called Modern War Gear Solid ? which to their surprise, garnered millions of views on Youtube. Since then the crew has continued to make popular Youtube videos under the banner ?Beat Down Boogie,? a nod to the pivotal moment when they turned away from traditional filmmaking.
Rick Burnett ? Technical Director, Shooter, VFX, Producer, Music & Audio
Rick Burnett became acquainted with Micah Moore at the DragonCon convention one year and asked about writing music for one of MIcah?s projects. Rick Burnett and his wife Christine ended up playing extras in the movie and started getting involved with the music and sound production work for a bigger project Micah was doing at the time. At the same time, Rick started exploring DSLR technology and bought a Nikon D90 which, while not a production worthy camera, definitely opened up both his and Micah?s eyes to newer inexpensive technologies that were coming. While he never intended to be behind the camera originally, a new passion was formed, and after picking up a 7D and starting on B-camera work, he never looked back. Rick typically fills the role of technical director and still provides sound production and 3D modeling work on all the ?Beat Down Boogie? productions.? Rick is an electrical engineer during the day.
Blake Faucette ? Art Director, Shooter, Producer
Blake says: I hired Micah Moore to work in my video store and we both would watch endless amounts of foreign films (European and Asian action films, Japanese Horror, etc). Micah had previously worked on a few short films and once I bought a Canon XL1S we began to shoot short film projects together. That lead to us eventually doing bigger and better things and buying bigger and better gear. Most of what we do now is create content for the Beat Down Boogie channel but I also run a sister channel called Distractotron that focuses on geek oriented entertainment plus I was co-creator of the Vimeo Award winning documentary web series Often Awesome. Needless to say, we stay very busy doing the things we love.
Matthew Sumner ? Lead Actor, Fight Choreographer
Matthew Sumner met Beat Down Boogie?s creative director, Micah Moore, and producer, Blake Faucette, ten years ago while Micah was working in Blake?s video store. Matthew?s love of martial arts and action films led him into performing stunts, fight choreography, and acting for a ton films and ultimately donning cheap mustaches for Beat Down Boogie.
Brian Lee ? Lead Actor, Stunt Coordinator
Brian Lee first met Beat Down Boogie?s director, Micah Moore, in the late 90?s while they trained kung-fu together in Raleigh, NC. Because of his martial arts background, Micah offered Brian a role in a college video project called ?The Key.? Coincidentally, it was while shooting this project that he met two other members of the Beat Down Boogie crew, Blake Faucette and Matthew Sumner. The group worked well together. Over the following decade, they continued to collaborate on action-oriented shorts and movies with Brian acting as both fight and stunt choreographer as needed. To this day, Brian continues to lend a hand, foot, or fist whenever called upon by Micah. He plays Ghost in Beat Down Boogie?s first major web series, Modern War Gear Solid, and he is credited with the role of the fedora wearing body guard, Toad, in Mario Warfare.
Some of the many others who have helped with various aspects of the productions including writing, acting and carrying stuff:
Alena Koch?is a full-time actress, spokesmodel, and voice over artist from New York. After moving to North Carolina, she met Beat Down Boogie at a film screening. Alena has throughly enjoyed playing Naomi in Modern War Gear Solid, and now Princess Peach in Mario Warfare, as well as various other videos with the amazing BDB family!
Stephen Carr?learned about Beat Down Boogie through one of his parkour students who happened to be Brian Lee. He told Micah about Stephen?s parkour and acrobatic skills; as well as his ability to fall to the ground violently without massive injury. These talents got Stephen an opportunity to perform most of the stunts in Mario Warfare, which he does with a smile.
Jarod Kearney?was introduced to Beat Down Boogie through mutual friends, coming down for the first production of Modern War Gear Solid. Jarod?s secret identity is a museum curator by day, but is lucky enough to get his acting fix through numerous film and theater productions. Jarod is truly honored to play Luigi in Mario Warfare, and loves acting with such a talented and crazy group of folks?all hail the mustache!
Christopher Moore?is an award-winning filmmaker whose short films have screened at film festivals across the country.?He first met Micah Moore at a screening of his filmDogs of Chinatown?many years ago. He?s helped out on set and?been an extra?for?several of Beat Down Boogie?s projects. When the opportunity arose to contribute to the story for their new?web series?Mario Warfare, Christopher jumped at the chance to be a part of the creative process.
